BUILDING IS JUST THE FIRST PHASE
It is impossible to learn and to teach
in a classroom of 50 students.
The current infrastructure at South Africa’s challenged schools is neither conducive to learning, nor a safe, hygienic environment for young students. With the collective help of our volunteers, the local and international community, and the South African government we’re building and refurbishing South Africa’s schools, most in need.
We have transformed mud rooms to fully equipped classrooms.
We have turned desolate open spaces into state of the art playgrounds and sports grounds.
Now, we’re rolling out a 10-year education development programme
to provide better education to more than 100,000 South African children.
PHASE TWO IS IMPROVING CURRICULUM DELIVERY
Empower teachers to empower students.
Educators are at the centre of our improvement efforts. Many teachers have not been provided with
the adequate training and skills to ensure every student reaches their potential. Together, with the
school and community; we want to help and support them.
To ensure all children have access to quality education, Mellon Educate provides mentorship and training
of the principals and teachers in the Western Cape and we want to expand this across South Africa.
