Mellon Housing

Mellon Housing Initiative (MHI) is a Non-Profit Organisation and Public Benefit Organisation, focused on adopting a social development approach to building quality homes and schools for disadvantaged communities in partnership with government, the private sector, civil society organisation and individuals. MHI invests in communities by creating a tangible and sustainable impact guided by the development of its constituencies.

Award-winning MHI has successfully completed more than 25,000 houses across South Africa, including the Southern and Western Cape as well as Gauteng and the Eastern Cape. Mellon Educate, born out of MHI,  is the sole beneficiary of any profits generated by MHI since 2014.

Lifetime Giving Back Award 2018: Niall Mellon received this honour from the South African Chamber of Commerce in London at their Business and Community Awards.

The award recognises people who have a vision for change and have shown inspirational leadership while giving their time, money and effort, over an extended period of time, to make a difference. Judges looked for evidence of how lives were changed, positive outcomes, long-term transformation over a period of at least 10 years.
